Our club has made a difference in many wonderful ways this past Summer/Fall ~ for example, we continually volunteer at the following:

  • Feed My Starving Children (stuffing bags with rice and dried vegetables) for third world countries
  • Robert Lewis House (a battered women’s shelter) ~ by providing/cooking and sharing a dinner with the women and children there, along with playing some activity or craft with the kids.
  • Burnsville Jazz Festival ~ participated in the yearly event with the Burnsville Rotary Noon Club…….pretty much got rained out, but the spirit was given by many.
  • Uganda Project ~ our club is currently underway of building four (4) wells in Uganda. We are very excited to be bringing clean water to the people that live there…….we’ll be sure to share the first date that we break ground ~ we’re hoping for it to be very soon.
  • Vista View Park Clean-Up ~ this Fall, we gathered eleven (11) bags of garbage from the park ~ it looked good by the time we left! We are also looking at making some improvements to the park next Spring (we’ll be excited to share them with you once we have them listed out).
  • Burnsville Food Shelf ~ each week our club members turn in food items, cleansing products or gift of money donations to help shelve items for those in need.
  • Cedar Alternative School (part of Burnsville District 191 High School) ~ We present a “Star Student” recognition award each month of the school year to a well deserving student that has made great progress in turning their life around. At graduation last May, we gave $500 scholarships to two of the students to be used toward their college expenses. It’s always such a joy to hear the high school student come and talk to our group and about how they are overcoming their tough trials in life.
  • Warm Hands/Warm Hearts ~ our club donated a good amount of money to help keep others warm during this winter season.
  • Habitat For Humanity ~ this is something new for our club this year! This Fall, we worked on a project locally for Habitat Humanity and currently, our club helped sponsor one of our members to travel to Haiti to work on a project there as well…..we are extremely excited and will share her experience with you soon.
  • Salvation Army ~ our club takes one Saturday each Christmas Season and participates in bell ringing (it’s a tradition of ours) at Byerly’s in Burnsville. All donations going to help support our Salvation Army.
  • Darts Clean-up ~ this Fall, our club raked up the leaves of the homes of two handicapped elderly people. Upon completion, it was good to see the green grass of their lawns.

Social Outings:

Our club not only makes a difference in other lives around us, but we also take the time to let’s say ~ “gather around the table” with each other. We have many fun social outings…...from playing softball, to enjoying a game of poker, to a club summer outing and getting a boat ride around Crystal Lake by one of our club members, to sharing a glass of wine at the new Wine Bar in Burnsville, to a “Christmas Carol at the Guthrie. And, “one of our favorites” ~ a Holiday Progressive Dinner at three of our club members homes during the Christmas season……cheers!
