Rotary District 5950 and 9200 in Africa for 2010

A Rotary District 5950 GSE team will travel to Ethiopia and Kenya from April 3 – May 2, 2010.

A Rotary District 9200 GSE Team will travel to Minnesota from May 2 – May 30, 2010.

District 5950 Rotary Clubs are asked to recruit applicants for the Outbound GSE Team and to provide host clubs and families for the Inbound GSE Team.

Outbound GSE Team

Rotary offers this opportunity to spend a month hosted by clubs in Rotary District 9200, staying with local Rotarians and seeing the countries of Ethiopia and Kenya in a way few will ever experience.

The 5-member Outbound District 5950 GSE Team will consist of a Rotarian team leader and four non-Rotarian professional or business people. Now is the time to recruit potential candidates for Group Study Exchange Team Leaders and Team Members.

Team leader applicants must be active Rotarians within a District 5950 Rotary club, with demonstrated leadership and team building skills. Team member candidates must be U.S. citizens ages 25-40, engaged in a recognized business or profession on a full-time basis for at least the past two years, and must live or work within the limits of Rotary District 5950 and its clubs. Employers must give permission for the candidate to participate BEFORE the interview process. Team member applicants cannot be Rotarians or spouses or lineal descendants of current Rotary members.

Inbound GSE Team

At least five Rotary Clubs within District 5950 will be selected to serve as host clubs for the inbound GSE Team from May 2-30, 2010. Team members will stay in the homes of Rotarians, if possible, and follow an itinerary of educational, cultural, and vocational points of interest organized by each host club. Each host club pays for GSE Team expenses incurred during their stay with the club. Clubs interested in hosting should contact the GSE Inbound Coordinator.

GSE Program Overview
The Group Study Exchange (GSE) program of The Rotary Foundation is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for young business and professional men and women between the ages of 25 and 40 and in the early years of their professional lives. The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits between paired areas in different countries. For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country's institutions and ways of life, observe their own vocations as practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas.
